Youth Pastor Transition

If you were not able to be at church Sunday, September 18, I wanted to let  you know that the church voted unanimously to call Tim Moses as our youth pastor. Tim accepted, and he will begin serving with us on October 3. If you would like to know more about Tim, you can scroll down to the previous blog for a short bio. We are excited and looking forward to a fruitful ministry. Please join with me in praying for Tim and Ashlee as they are trying to sell their home in Oklahoma. I have been in that position before, and it can cause tremendous stress and anxiety for the entire family. They are going to move here while their house remains staged as they try to sell it. This means they are moving with the bare essentials. They may need to borrow a couch, table, chairs, bed, etc. If you have any extra furniture you would like to loan them, please call the church office and let us know. In addition, we are going to have a "pounding" to welcome them to our church family on October 16. We are asking church members to purchase gift cards that will help them in their move. Cards to places like Whit Davis, Lowe's, Kroger, and Wal-Mart can be a real help. Their favorite restaurants are Chick-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings, Slim Chickens, and Chili's. On October 16, we will have a basket available for you to drop your cards in.

With the hiring of Tim, that means Joe Mitchell's time as our youth pastor is coming to a close. Joe has served here faithfully for the past fifteen years, and his ministry has had an impact on hundreds of students who have come through our youth ministry. Joe's influence has not been  just for students. He has ministered and loved on many parents too. For those who know Joe well, it is obvious he has a heart for the Lord and for missions. One of the greatest testimonies and endless impacts of his ministry are the numerous students who have been called to serve as missionaries. We love Joe and appreciate his years of service and sacrifice, not only for our church, but especially for the Lord's work. On October 2, we are hosting a retirement celebration in his honor. I hope you will make plans to attend this special evening. We will have a short program in the sanctuary at 6:00pm, and then we will have a reception in fellowship hall. We ask our members to write a card of encouragement and thanksgiving for his service. We would also like to ask, if you feel led, to include a love offering. At the reception, there will be a basket for you to drop your cards and gifts. Again, we appreciate Joe's service, and look forward to a wonderful night of celebration.
